This is the "Gateway Affirmation", a sort of mindset one affirms before every Gateway exercise. As can be seen, it leaves the field for experience wide open. Also, I was told it's not necessary to follow Robert Monroe's wording. One can express the tenets however one wishes: that one is more than a physical body, that one wishes to experience the reality of that "more", that one desires help of beings higher developed than oneself.
