This year, I have set up the whole network with smokeping probes. People are happy when suspicions of degraded performance are either substantiated or diffused in an objective manner.

Currently, what holds my interest most at work is a network management project, where I extract inventory data from one documentation database tool, crunch the data through my perl scripts in order to have it populate a rancid installation. The general purpose of this is router configuration version management.
